Our Story
The Dunsing family's history in the home inspection industry began in 1980. What started during a challenging economy has grown into an established Chicagoland inspection company serving homebuyers, homeowners, real estate professionals and commercial clients throughout the region.
Today, Dunsing Inspections completes thousands of inspections each year with a growing team of licensed inspectors and specialty technicians. More than four decades later, our focus remains the same: thorough inspections, experienced professionals and clear information that helps our clients make confident property decisions.
From our early beginnings to a growing team and expanded services, our history reflects decades of adaptation, experience and continued investment in the clients and communities we serve.
The Dunsing family enters the home inspection business during a challenging economy, laying the foundation for what would eventually become Dunsing Inspections.
Dunsing Consultants grows to four inspectors, and Jamie enters the business as one of relatively few second-generation home inspectors in the country.
Jamie and Juli begin purchasing Dunsing Consultants. The company has six inspectors and is already completing more than 2,000 inspections per year.
Illinois begins licensing home inspectors. Dunsing Consultants also becomes part of LandAmerica Financial Group, with Jamie taking on management responsibilities across Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
Jamie returns to independent ownership and the company becomes Dunsing Inspections, beginning another chapter of growth.
Dunsing begins expanding beyond a sole-practitioner model and starts building a larger inspection team.
Dunsing purchases and moves into its Lake Bluff office as the company continues expanding its inspection and support teams.
Despite the disruption of COVID-19, Dunsing continues growing its team and services and finishes the year with record inspection volume.
Dunsing expands its in-house capabilities with sewer scopes, radon testing, chimney scans, EIFS inspections, thermal imaging, drone inspections and additional consulting services.
Dunsing adds mold testing, becomes a licensed Illinois Continuing Education provider and continues refining its teamed-inspection and specialty-service model.
Dunsing adds WDI inspections, continues growing its inspector and specialty-service teams and remains focused on helping clients move forward with confidence.
