What services does your home inspector provide? Learn more about what different companies offer.
WHAT IT IS?:
We joke that this is a “colonoscopy for your chimney”! A state-of-the-art digital camera is sent up the chimney flue to visually inspect the interior of the chimney for defects and to verify the integrity of the liner. Typical findings are cracks, gaps, and blockage that aren’t visible to the naked eye.
WHY SHOULD I ORDER THIS TEST?:
A compromised chimney flue liner can pose a serious fire hazard.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN CHIMNEY SCANNING?:
- This service is limited to fireplaces and other easily accessible flue liners (NOT appliance flues);
- We do not disassemble furnace or water heater vent connectors to inspect the chimney liner;
- If a chimney is too dirty, we may recommend a cleaning of the chimney before we can perform our inspection;
- Written findings and photos from the chimney scan will be included in the written inspection report.
Fees and scope of inspection for commercial properties vary. Please call our office for details or email the property address to us along with your contact information and we’ll prepare a custom proposal for you.
